We’ve been showing at the World Equestrian Center (WEC) since
it opened in 2021, and it’s a pleasure to be at this truly world-class equestrian show site. From the Grand Arena to the professionally maintained barns to the climate- controlled show rings, this site has it all. And they’re set up to accommodate every type of equine discipline: dressage, reining, barrel racing, show jumping and, of course, hunter/jumper events. The site is huge, covering literally hundreds of acres, and has an onsite general store, golf cart rentals, an RV park, a new hotel in the works (in addition to the Equestrian Hotel already there), and they’ll be adding jogging trails, bridle paths, polo fields, and other recreation options. They also host other events all year long like car and dog shows, cooking festivals, home expos and more! Read more about World Equestrian Center Ocala events HERE.
HOME SWEET HOME
We really appreciate the family atmosphere here at WEC. When we show, we always see lots of friends and family support teams cheering on their riders. There’s seating all around the Grand Arena (where we often watch our friends in the Grand Prix classes), room to watch at the warm-up rings, and lots of photo opportunities throughout the grounds. The rings all have great footing, and the staff are professionals who know how to run a horse show. You can find us mostly in the Hunter rings right next the stadium with the purple seats. The viewing decks between the rings are super cool with fans and have great chairs for the entire family to watch and enjoy the action. If you are having a hard time locating any of the Eden Farm riders, just look for Miss Megan with a big, floppy hat and a bunch of grey ponies. Apparently, GREY is the new BAY!
For folks coming in from out of town, WEC has the elegant Equestrian Hotel, a Gold Key Award finalist with restaurants, salon and spa, fitness center, pool and views of the Grand Arena. WEC also offers its Home Away From Home nearby vacation rentals, which are all 3-bedroom/2-bath mobile homes, plus their RV park is available if you drive your own home. They make it easy to be a fan and be onsite for your rider’s classes. And it’s easy to get around, using a golf cart to zip around the huge complex. Need help navigating this fabulous facility? DINING OPTIONS GALORE
WEC has eating spots too, all decorated with original artworks -- like fabulously frilly pigs in clothes and make-up. Filo’s Mexican Cantina is one of our favorites with breakfast burrito options plus an all-day menu. Offering classic tacos, entrees, and a make-your-own burrito menu, there are lots of choices to be made here! Flan is an option for dessert, of course. This is a great place to fill up our tummies after a long day showing. For Italian flavors, we hit Viola & Dot’s Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria.
This spot offers more design-your-own meals from flatbreads, salads or pasta options with a variety of delicious meats and toppings. Naturally, they also offer pizzas and calzones, classic Italian entrees, and decadent sweet desserts. For a quick grab-n-go meal before or after a class, they also offer pizza by the slice, which is really convenient. Of course, you can’t beat good old-fashioned American burgers. Ralph’s Burger and Sandwich Shop has tons of options too, from classic burger concoctions to deli-style sandwiches, breakfast choices, plus desserts and bakery items. View Menu. This is another great place to load up when
we’ve worked up a big appetite from horsing around!
For dessert, Miss Tilly’s Lollipops is the sweets shop. Yes, they do offer classic lollipops, along with hand-made fudge, ice cream, chocolates, and all in a fun, old-fashioned atmosphere. We love to indulge in gourmet coffees, ice cream sundaes and milkshakes, or
special candies.
